I’m planning to start a business in India and want to register it as a Private Limited Company. This is my first time going through the company incorporation process, so I’m trying to understand the steps involved.
Could someone explain:
I’d appreciate responses from anyone who has recently registered a Private Limited Company in India and can share their experience.
One thing I would prepare in advance is the registered office documentation. Depending on whether you own or rent the premises, you may need appropriate address proof and supporting documents.
For the directors, you'll generally need identity and address documents and photographs. Digital signatures may also be required for filing.
The exact documents can vary depending on the directors, shareholders and company structure.
The incorporation process is generally completed through the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) using the SPICe+ incorporation process.
You’ll normally need details and documents for the proposed directors and shareholders, along with the company's registered office details. The proposed company name also needs to meet MCA naming requirements.
If you're doing this for the first time, make sure the names and details on the identity/address documents are consistent before submitting the application.

Don't look only at the incorporation fee. After registration, a Private Limited Company has ongoing ROC/MCA compliance, accounting, tax and other statutory requirements.
Also, if you're planning to have foreign shareholders or directors, the documentation and compliance can be different from a company where everyone is based in India.
I'd suggest deciding the shareholding, directors, registered office and proposed business activities before starting the incorporation application.
