What is the Online EPF Withdrawal Submission Process?

I’m trying to understand how to submit an EPF withdrawal claim online through the EPFO portal. I recently left my previous job and want to withdraw the eligible amount from my Employees’ Provident Fund account, but I’m not entirely sure which claim option I should select.

I’ve heard that the online process can be completed through the UAN member portal, provided your UAN is activated and your Aadhaar, bank account, and other details are properly linked. However, I’m confused about whether I should submit Form 19, Form 10C, or Form 31.

I also want to know whether I need to upload any documents or visit my previous employer to get the claim approved. My bank details are linked to my UAN, but I haven’t checked whether all my KYC information is verified.

For those who have recently submitted an EPF withdrawal claim online, could you explain the steps you followed? Did you complete the entire process through the EPFO member portal, and how did you track the claim after submission?

I’d also appreciate clarification on whether the procedure differs for someone who has left their job permanently versus someone who is still employed and needs an advance for a specific reason.

I'd suggest checking whether you actually need a withdrawal or a transfer before filing anything.

If you've joined another employer covered by EPF, transferring your previous PF balance may be more appropriate than withdrawing it. If you've left employment and aren't working under another covered establishment, your eligibility for final settlement depends on the applicable rules and your circumstances.

Also, EPF and EPS are related but different benefits. The amount in your EPF account and the pension-related benefit aren't necessarily processed in the same way. That's why Form 19 and Form 10C serve different purposes.

If your online claim gets rejected, read the reason shown in the claim status before submitting another request. A KYC mismatch, incorrect bank details, or an incomplete service record may require a correction first.

For the latest instructions, rely on the official EPFO portal rather than old screenshots or videos, because portal options and claim rules can change. You can also check the official EPFO website for current guidance.

One thing that confused me initially was whether I had to visit my previous employer to submit a withdrawal request.

The EPFO provides an online claim facility through which eligible members can submit claims directly, without requiring an employer to act as an intermediary for every online claim. However, your KYC, service records, and other eligibility conditions still need to be in order.

Once you're logged in, look for Online Services and select the claim option listed on the portal. Verify the bank account details requested, review the declaration, and proceed to the claim selection screen.

Choose the claim type that matches your circumstances. If you're applying for final settlement after leaving employment, don't select a partial advance simply because it appears first in the list.

Before submitting, double-check the account number and IFSC code associated with your UAN. If the portal asks for Aadhaar OTP verification, make sure you can receive the OTP on the registered mobile number.

After submission, save the acknowledgement or reference number. It will be useful if you need to follow up on the claim.

I submitted an EPF claim online previously, and the first thing I'd recommend is checking your KYC details before starting the withdrawal process.

Log in to the official EPFO Member Portal using your UAN and password. Check whether your Aadhaar, bank account details, and other required information are correct and verified. Also make sure your date of joining and date of exit are recorded correctly in your service history.

    The usual claim options are:

    • Form 19: EPF final settlement, subject to eligibility.
    • Form 10C: Eligible pension withdrawal benefit or scheme certificate, depending on your circumstances.
    • Form 31: Partial EPF withdrawal or advance for a permitted purpose.

The portal will determine which options are available to you based on your details and eligibility. You shouldn't assume that all three forms will be available.

I would also check your previous employment records before submitting anything. If your exit date is missing or incorrect, you may need to get that corrected first.
