What is Form 1120 in the USA?

Form 1120 is a US corporation Income tax return. It is used by American corporations to report the deductions, credits, gains, losses, and income. This form helps the corporation to know how much tax it needs to pay according to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

      Form 1120 is filed by the following entities. 

       

      • Farming corporations: The farming corporations must file Form 1120 to report their losses and gains, or income. 
      • Businesses that are taxed as corporations: The businesses that are taxed as corporations must file Form 8832 and attach a copy of the Form 1120. 
      • Foreign-owned domestic disregarded entities: If any foreign corporation or individual owns 100% of the domestic disregarded entities (DE), then the DE will be treated differently from the foreign owner, and the foreign individual or corporation must file Form 1120, and with that, they should also attach a completed Form 5472.
