Does Indian Bank Offer Special Debit Cards or Services for NRIs?

I recently became an NRI and opened an NRE savings account with Indian Bank. I was wondering whether Indian Bank has any special debit cards or additional banking services specifically for NRI customers.

I currently live in the UAE and will mainly use the account for receiving money from abroad, making payments when I visit India and managing my savings in India.

I noticed that Indian Bank has NRI-specific savings account variants such as IND D'Elite, IND Premium, and IND Plus, but I'm not sure what additional benefits come with these accounts compared with a normal savings account.

Does anyone know what the NRI debit cards actually offer?

I'm particularly interested in:

  • International or domestic airport lounge access
  • Higher ATM withdrawal or shopping limits
  • Debit-card reward points
  • Tap-to-pay/contactless payments
  • Personal accident insurance
  • Whether the debit card has an annual maintenance charge
  • Any discounts or loyalty benefits
  • Whether these cards can be managed while living outside India

I'm also wondering whether these benefits depend on maintaining a particular minimum balance.

If anyone has an Indian Bank NRE account and is currently using one of these NRI debit cards, I'd appreciate hearing which variant you have and whether there are any conditions I should know about.

One useful thing for NRIs is that Indian Bank has a dedicated NRI online platform. The bank's current NRI portal supports account-related requests such as KYC updates, resident-to-NRO conversion and updating registered email/mobile details.

So there are services beyond the physical debit card.

The NRI section also lists NRE savings accounts, NRO accounts, FCNR deposits, NRI home/plot loans and remittance/forex services.

For someone living abroad, I'd make sure the registered mobile number and email are kept updated because those can be important for online banking and service requests.

Also, don't confuse airport lounge access with unlimited access. Lounge benefits normally have eligibility conditions, and the exact terms can depend on the particular card/account.

I was looking at the same thing recently. The main difference seems to be the NRI account variant, rather than simply asking the bank for a special debit card.

Indian Bank announced its NRI savings variants in 2025 and said they were packaged with premium debit cards such as IND D'Elite, IND Premium and IND Plus. The bank mentioned benefits including airport lounge access, personal accident cover and loyalty offers.

The exact benefits aren't necessarily identical across the three variants.

For example, IND Plus specifically lists domestic airport lounge access, reward points, tap-to-pay, higher shopping limits and a higher daily domestic ATM withdrawal limit.

D'Elite has additional premium benefits, including domestic and international lounge access and accident insurance cover.

If you're choosing between them, I'd ask Indian Bank for the current comparison of minimum balance, debit-card limits, lounge eligibility, insurance terms and applicable charges rather than choosing purely based on the account name.

Yes, Indian Bank does have NRI-specific savings account variants with premium debit-card benefits.

The bank's current NRI information lists IND D'Elite, IND Premium and IND Plus under its NRI savings products.

For example, the IND Plus NRE Savings Account includes a free debit card, no debit-card AMC, reward points on debit-card spending, loyalty offers/discounts, tap-to-pay, higher shopping limits and a higher daily domestic ATM withdrawal limit. It also provides domestic airport lounge access.

There are conditions attached to the account, though. IND Plus has different average-balance/term-deposit options, so I wouldn't assume that all the benefits are available without meeting the applicable balance requirement.

The IND D'Elite account is positioned at a higher tier and includes international as well as domestic airport lounge access, personal accident cover, reward points, higher limits and other privileges.

So it looks like Indian Bank has more than just a standard debit card for NRI customers.
